Now this is neat! [WordPress](http://wordpress.org) does what I want. And this is the reason I converted to WordPress. WordPress is a weblog tool based on PHP with a MySQL database and valid XHTML 1.0. I also did a new theme looking like my old [Mambo](http://www.mamboserver.com) template – with small changes and a CSS file much smaller (about 65% of original size).

About myself. Should I add more information?
Today I found out about a solution to the Internet Explorer problem I recently had with [my fotoalbum](/2005/08/my-fotoalbum/). I read about the Holly Hack that prevents Internet Explorer on Windows to behave abnormally and found out it may be a solution to my problem too.

This week I had the feeling of redesigning my website. Two columns and a fixed width was what I wanted to have. I’ve seen this layout on many other pages and I feel like this is the way. Altough I now have to deal with a fixed (smaller) width reading the content is now more comfortable.

Not long ago I was bored – I was thinking about something to code. I had a talk about a fotoalbum with my girlfriend – written in PHP(PHP Hypertext Preprocessor) -, so we could share some fotos. There are a lot of them out there, sure, but they all had some limitations, bad layout, etc. that made us think about it. Even the gallery I use right now is not what I really wanted to have. So I build my own.

I found out about the tutorials at the GIMP website ([The GIMP](http://www.gimp.org)), so I tried out some of them. The most impressing tutorial for me has been the [“Draw A Paint Brush”](http://www.gimp.org/tutorials/Draw_A_Paint_Brush/) tutorial by Tuomas Kuosmanen. You can see the resulting image at the left, I’m going to put the gimp source file up when I’ve got more time.

I like it. I really like it. I have to tell because I liked my old cellphone as well – the first few days. But then I realised, that it wasn’t the “real thing”. No infrared, no bluetooth, bad keyboard. I got really annoyed – and had to wait a long time to get a new mobile phone. But I really like this one. Really. It’s been two months and I still like it – that’s great, you know?

Last weekend I began to learn Ruby. First I added a search engine for my book collection tool called Alexandria. I like the syntax, it’s much like python or perl, though I don’t like perl that much. Ruby seems to me a really neat language and I began to port my mkmovie tool to that language. Then I thought about a list of languages I already know, but I never made one. This should be the list, whether it is complete I’m not aware of – I’m happy I remember these 😉

This is a more or less complete list of books I read in 2004. Shame on me it is not as long as I wanted it to be… Most of the english books on the list are from Ireland – I brought a whole lot more books with me, but wasn’t able to read them all! I’m trying to do that in the next few month.

I was never that much interested in taking pictures with a digital camera. You don’t have that good quality (cheap lenses, chip, …) and almost everything is done automatically. My father had an old SLR camera that I liked most – so I planned for a long time I wanted to have a digital SLR camera. When I saw the 300D I didn’t like it much at first sight – because it was silver. But I changed my mind after some time – and bought it!
