Last weekend I began to learn Ruby. First I added a search engine for my book collection tool called Alexandria. I like the syntax, it’s much like python or perl, though I don’t like perl that much. Ruby seems to me a really neat language and I began to port my mkmovie tool to that language. Then I thought about a list of languages I already know, but I never made one. This should be the list, whether it is complete I’m not aware of – I’m happy I remember these 😉

My books of 2004

This is a more or less complete list of books I read in 2004. Shame on me it is not as long as I wanted it to be… Most of the english books on the list are from Ireland – I brought a whole lot more books with me, but wasn’t able to read them all! I’m trying to do that in the next few month.

I was never that much interested in taking pictures with a digital camera. You don’t have that good quality (cheap lenses, chip, …) and almost everything is done automatically. My father had an old SLR camera that I liked most – so I planned for a long time I wanted to have a digital SLR camera. When I saw the 300D I didn’t like it much at first sight – because it was silver. But I changed my mind after some time – and bought it!

iPod shuffle

“Wow!” was what I thought as I saw this wonderful thing. I always wanted to have an iPod but didn’t want to invest that much. Now this is an USB-Stick with musicplayer – a good thing nowadays 🙂 My actual USB-Stick has 128MB, which is not that much… This iPod shuffle has 512 or even 1024MB of Flash RAM! I’m really thinking about an iPod shuffle, though I don’t really need one. But who really needs one, hm? 😉 The only disadvantage is it doesn’t have a display, but at that size it’s not that bad – you couldn’t read it anyway 😉 Now I’m having a hard time arguing with myself…
