About myself. Should I add more information?

What I always wanted to say but never found words for. [Roger Johansson](http://www.456bereastreet.com/archive/200512/ten_reasons_to_learn_and_use_web_standards/) tells more about it, also look at the interesting comments on that topic. Finally something to refer to when asked. Great posting!

Which OS are you?

You are Palm OS. Punctual, straightforward and very useful. Your mother wants you to do more with your life like your cousin Wince, but you're happy with who you are.

How to diff

I always wonder how to do a diff on two directories. Then I find it out some way and am really happy to use it. But that’s it. I don’t write it down. So it’s the same next time – how do I diff two directories? This time I’m having enough of it. I’m *writing it down*. Here’s how to do it.

Today I finished my work on a somehow special exam. Our grade of the course taught by [Dr. Zoltán Porkoláb](http://gsd.web.elte.hu/) would be calculated by a C++-programme. We had one week to write a header file that is included in that programme.

I’ve taken a quiz on [Quizilla](http://quizilla.com) that represents the Middle Earth race you’d belong to. I found it on [Planet Debian](http://planet.debian.net). I knew I’d be elvish at the time I took the quiz :).

New harddisks

Yesterday our two new 80GB harddisks (Western Digital) arrived and we wanted to switch our system to use them. So I stopped all services, made a system halt and put the new disks in there. Additionally we wanted to have a software RAID to get a redundant system. But the two disks didn’t like to do what we wanted them to do – to boot from them…

This week our server broke down. The harddrive made sounds like hammering their heads against the disc – which of course is not good. So we had to find another harddisk. Fortunately I had kind of a *spare* computer at home which has a lot more harddisk space available (60GB instead of the poor 30GB drive we had). So we switched to this computer.

Apples new iPod Video

October 13, 2005 — Leave a comment

Apple announced its [new iPod](http://www.apple.com/ipod/) a few days ago. And I saw it today and thought “Wow – how can they do that?”. Its size is smaller than the original iPod, the screen size increased to watch video, its capacity increased and is now available from 30GB to 60GB and the price is at an ultimate low: it starts at $299 in the US. When is it going to be available in europe? With all the new accessories ([Camera Connector](http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/AppleStore?productLearnMore=M9861G/A), [AV Cable](http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/AppleStore?productLearnMore=M9765G/A), […](http://www.apple.com/ipod/accessories.html)) it is the perfect companion when you’re not at home.
