Lines of Lofoten

We spent four weeks in the summer of 2012 building two lines in Lofoten, Norway; a dirt line and a big bike line. Our goal was to capture world-class riding in the untouched and unique nature around Lofoten. The fast shifting weather and continuous problems with getting the lines working left us with only a couple of days to complete the film.

This is a highlight clip featuring all the best action from the project.

Lines of Lofoten – a 5 episode web-series will be released shortly.

Round 2 of the 2013 Saracen British Downhill Series was held at the legendary Fort William, typical Scottish weather came into play making it extremely challenging for the riders. The course had little maintenance over winter, which left the race track at its roughest yet.

2 years have passed since Framed I has been a big success on the internet. After his crash, Andi Wittmann had to pause a while to get back in shape and train hard to be on his top level.
In Fall 2012, Andi and I squeezed in about 3 days to wrap the freeride and some freestyle shots in Neukirchen / Austria for the project “Framed 2”

Andi and I just wanted to capture the season in 3-4min and show that it’s possible to get up to the top if you train hard and focus on your passion.
After all, everyone should get on their bikes to enjoy nature instead of sitting in their offices and watching the sun setting.
Aerial Shots were filmed by airV8, additional footage was shot by Lukas Tielke (Peoplegrapher).
Instead of animating, I decided to film real metal letters, provided by our friend “Luc” (Ludwig Grimm) who did a great job making some nice titles 🙂
and thanks Rick Macomber and Tommy Davis for doing a quick test-Voiceover for the Video

This box isn’t big enough to tell the full story so all i’ll say for now is i had a lot of fun putting this edit together and it was probably one of the most challenging in every way. Have a watch and we’ll talk later….

——– INFO ———

What an awesome adventure!! Thanks for all the support and all those beautiful smiles.

CicLAvia 2013 – Los Angeles, CA
http://www.ciclavia.org/

14.5ft at the Seat
Built in 12 work hours
One Huffy beach cruiser, 2″ square tubing, 3/4″ round tubing, and 1″ round tubing
26″ single speed coaster brake wheelset
6 1/2 single speed bicycle chains (32.5ft of chain)

To bend the pipe i used an upside down shopping cart and a split log. Ghetto, i know, but hey – IT WORKS.

My last tallbike was just under 10ft tall at the seat and you can see us featured in 30 Seconds to Mars’ music video, “Kings and Queens” – http://youtu.be/hTMrlHHVx8A
STOOPIDTALL, is the inbetween from that one (Kafourki) and the world record tallest bike that i’ll be building later this year.

THANKS:
Thank you to all the Angelopes who guided STOOPIDTALL through the sea of fellow cyclists!

Thanks to all the photographers and videographers who documented STOOPIDTALL’s Maiden Voyage!

And SUPER Thanks to LAPD and the other Traffic Enforcement officers that allowed us passage to brightening people day.

Much love, Richie

What’s Next? STOOPIDTALL will be featured in ZEN DOG, an indie film shooting in JULY – zendogmovie.com and facebook.com/zendogmovie
